How to be Happy

For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.― Ralph Waldo Emerson

In this busy and stressful life, everyone wants to be happy. It is the wish and desire of every person on this earth. Happiness does have a pretty important role in our lives. It can have a huge impact on the way we live our lives.

Happiness is the state of feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

Happiness is a combination of how satisfied you are with your life and how good you feel on a day-to-day basis.

Happiness is a feeling; it is a state of mind, not a trait. It is not a permanent feature of our personality, it is a changeable state. With our consistent efforts and practice, we can change the way we feel about things and respond to them. We can build good habits for a more satisfying and fulfilling life. Here are five simple ways which lead towards a happy and satisfying life.

Five simple ways to be Happy

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough.—Melodie Beatty

The word gratitude is derived from the Latin word gratia, which means grace, graciousness, or gratefulness

Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible.

Gratitude and happiness have a direct link, If you do not have gratitude, you can never be happy. To be happy, you should be thankful of what you have.

Think back over the past life and make a list of those things which once you desired or wished to get. You struggled for those things and prayed. And today, you have those things. You should be thankful for those things. There are many things in our life, both large and small, that we might be grateful about.

If you feel and express gratitude, the focus of your mind will shift on positive things. And it will create positive emotions, a positive energy inside us. This will not only give you happiness and peace of mind but also give you confidence to get more success in your life.

Forgiveness – The key to a happier life

Holding on anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent to throw it at someone else —you are the one getting burned.—Buddha

If you truly want to live a happy, peaceful and meaningful life, then here is a secret. Make a habit of forgiving others. Forgiveness is the key to a happier life. Happy people are more forgiving than unhappy people. We usually think that benefits of forgiveness are for those who are forgiven. But numerous studies have found that the positive effects of forgiveness are for those who forgive rather than those who are forgiven.

In our life, we usually met two types of people. Some are good and some are not so good. Good people bring happiness to our lives, while not so good people hurt us with their actions and behaviors. We get angry on their actions and became unhappy.

If our goal is to live a happy and peaceful life, then we should forget the hurt caused by such not so good people. Because forgiveness benefits you a lot more than the person you forgive.

Forgiving others, who actually hurt you is not as easy as it sounds. But we should learn forgiveness from children. They fight each other, forgive and forget easily and play again together.

Cultivate a Positive Mindset

When you think positive, good things happen.—Matt Kemp

We are always filling our mind with different thoughts, which can be positive or negative. Negative thoughts increase the level of inside negativity, while positive thoughts brings positivity in our lives and make us happy.

If you want to be happy, then you must have a positive mindset. You must see the positive aspects of everything. You must fill yourself with positive thoughts. Because if you have garbage in, there will be garbage out. And if you have positive thoughts inside you, you will spread happiness around. And believe me it is always our choice, it is always in our hands. Surround yourself with positive people, read good books and learn good things. Learning changes the way of thinking. And when you think positive, good things happen to you.

Share your happiness

Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of a candle will not be shortened.  Happiness never decreases by being shared. —Buddha

Usually it is our habit that we cry over negative things but if we find something good, we remain silent. We must share our happiness with the world, give other people that happiness and let it come back. Life is not about making others happy, life is about sharing your happiness. Always try to celebrate your happy moments with others. Not for others, but for yourself.

Share your happiness with your inner circle, with your family, friends, and relatives. I assure you that sharing will make your happiness bigger.

Purpose of your Life

Goals give us purpose, which, in turn, motivates us to make ourselves best version in all aspects of our life. —Hannah Bronfman

People are often depressed and unhappy because they don’t know the purpose of their lives. What they are doing and what they want to do? What they want to achieve? Where they want to go? They are spending a directionless life. Purpose is what gives life a meaning.

You should have a very clear idea, what you want to do in your life. And do what make you happy.  If you have a purpose in life, then you will be more energetic, enthusiastic and happy. If you get up in the morning and don’t find any meaning in what you are doing, you will feel empty within.

So, spare some time to look within you and find out the purpose and goals of your life. What you really wants to do, wants to achieve. Write in down on a paper. Plan to achieve it and work on it. It will bring happiness in your life.
